Madison Saleeby, Audiology Assistant

Madison Saleeby earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She also minored in American Sign Language and Psychology. Madison was drawn to the field by learning about the experiences of her deaf and hard-of-hearing peers and seeing how important an Audiologist can be for language development in childhood hearing loss. Madison hopes to pursue her Doctor of Audiology degree in the near future. She is excited to have the opportunity to work with and learn from the amazing Audiologists at Now Hear This.

Outside of work, you’ll find Madison reading a good book or going to concerts (with ear protection, of course). She also loves spending time with her family, friends, and two adorable cats.

“Hi, my name is Spencer and I am 15 years old! As a cat with only one ear, I can say that what my mom does is very important! I love treats, sleeping, and knocking over all of my mom’s papers. I was rescued from behind a dance studio when I was a kitten and named after Spencer from iCarly because I was a little crazy when I came inside for the first time!”

“Hi, my name is Buglee. Yes, that is my actual name. I am almost 2 years old and I love to play! My favorite toys are my tinfoil ball and stray hair ties. In my free time, I like to catch house flies and lizards in the garage! I am a little shy at first, but once I warm up, I love butt scratches!”

“Hi, my name is Madison Saleeby and I am an audiology assistant at Now Hear This®. I graduated from UNC Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science in speech pathology and audiology. I was first introduced to the field by my American sign language professor who lost her hearing at a very young age. She shared her experience with her audiologist and how her parents felt very lost because they had never experienced deafness before. And their audiologist was really knowledgeable, helped come up with a really great plan for her specifically, not just looking at her symptoms but her as a person and what her family and herself prioritized.

And so she was able to access language at a very young age and felt like they made a really informed decision. And so after learning about her experience I went home, looked at the field, signed up for an intro course, and just fell in love with the subject. And so in the near future I hope to pursue my doctor of audiology degree but I did want to have some clinical experience before I pursued grad school because it’s really important for me to feel like I’m as knowledgeable as I possibly can be so I have that hands on experience working with patients before going to school is really important, and I feel like having the opportunity to work here among such amazing audiologists who really prioritize empathy in their care is just a wonderful opportunity and I’m just so excited to learn and work with them.”
