Hearing Aids

Experience advanced hearing solutions and personalized care from Raleigh’s trusted audiologists — your journey to better hearing starts here!

Hearing Aids are specialized devices that are worn in or behind the ear and enhance your ability to hear speech and the sounds of life without uncomfortable loudness. Modern hearing aid devices have wonderfully advanced technologies that can do all that, plus come in different shapes and sizes to suit your listening needs. The patient makes the choice, along with the professional recommendation from our audiologist, on the best hearing aid based upon their type of hearing loss, the size and shape of their ear canal, the patient’s listening lifestyle, and how “noticeable” the patient wants the hearing devices to be.

Now Hear This® dispenses hearing aids in Raleigh, NC manufactured by all major manufacturers including Phonak, Oticon, Starkey, Signia, Widex, Resound, and Unitron.

Today’s Best Hearing Aid Features

Today’s hearing aids not only do a much better job processing speech and improving speech clarity, especially in background noise, but also come equipped with a variety of features, such as:

1. Improved Speech Understanding, Especially in Noisy Environments

The chip inside the hearing aid can process sounds quickly and efficiently to be able to reduce background noise, improve speech clarity, and promote ease of listening effort. This means that the hearing aids work hard to process sounds so your brain does not have to.

2. Fast Charging, Rechargeable Lithium Ion

Rechargeable aids can charge from dead to a full charge in about three hours, are more resistant to water, dirt, and debris due to fewer crevices on the devices, and have a visually appealing, sleek design.

3. Bluetooth Compatible

Most of today’s hearing aids have wireless connectivity to both Android and iPhone devices. This means improved speech clarity while talking on the telephone as well as clear quality music and video streaming.

4. Mobile App for Advanced Manual Control and Remote Services

Hearing aid manufacturers have phone applications (or “apps”) available for smartphones that provide the hearing aid user with manual control of volume, sound balance, noise reduction and speech focus. These apps also allow the user to see the battery status of the hearing aids, as well as reach out for remote services. Remote services provide the patient with the ability to have adjustments made to the hearing aid programming (such as increasing the volume or improving the clarity) without having to come into the office. The app allows the patient to make real-life changes in real time to improve hearing performance.

5. Remarkably Small Hearing Aid Design

Hearing aids are smaller and lighter today then they have ever been before and are designed to look sleek and minimal. Today’s hearing aids are not only smaller in size, they also come in a variety of colors to match hair or skin tones, making them even more discrete.

6. High-Quality Audio Streaming to Most Smartphones

Stream your favorite music, television shows, or movies directly from your smartphone to your hearing aids with clarity and ease.

7. Artificial intelligence and Body Tracking

Some of today’s greatest hearing aids now have even more features that focus not only on hearing healthy but body health as well. Features of these hearing aids include Healthable Technology and Intelligence Assistance. *

  • Healthable Technology features include body tracking, brain tracking, and fall alert notifications. The hearing aids have “3D motion sensors, which can track your activity, steps, and overall movement.” If you or a loved one who wears hearing aids falls, the aids will send an alert to a previously designated cell phone to alert family members that their loved one has fallen.
  • Intelligent Assistant technology features include using voice commands to get answers to questions found anywhere on the internet, set reminders, and provide notifications for tasks like taking medications and translation capability for over twenty languages.

8. Accessories

Accessories provide additional assistance with hearing aids. Accessories can include devices that connect to your television and stream the television directly into your hearing aids – providing more clarity, remote controls for manual control, and devices that allows the hearing aid user to hear speech more clearly from one or several talkers.

At Now Hear This®, we’re proud to offer world-class premium hearing aids that include state-of-the-art technology and will improve the everyday quality of life for hearing aid candidates. Today’s hearing aids are more inconspicuous than ever, and are also Bluetooth compatible, rechargeable, and come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and styles.

Custom hearing aids come in a variety of styles from an In-The-Ear style to a Completely-in-the-Canal style.

There are two styles of Behind the Ear hearing aids: Receiver in the Canal (RIC) or Receiver in the Aid (RITA). Both of these hearing aids have the body of the device (the part that contains the electronics) behind the ear, and while the receiver in the aid style will have a tube and an earpiece that goes down into the ear canal and may be more appropriate for more severe hearing losses, while the receiver in the canal has a thin wire that goes into the ear and provides a flexible range for adjustments, should your hearing change over time.
