Our Team

Dr. Schlater’s specialties include adult diagnostics, adult hearing aid fittings and reprogramming, assistive listening devices, and Tinnitus management. She uses evidence-based practice including Real Ear Measures and Speech in Noise testing during hearing aid programming appointments to verify hearing aids are functioning optimally.

Dr. Schlater earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and was an elementary school teacher for five years before she found an interest in Audiology.  She earned her clinical doctorate in Audiology from the Northeast Ohio Au.D Consortium.

In her free time, Dr. Schlater enjoys hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, playing pickleball, and kayaking/paddle boarding.

Dawn Geda is a dedicated and skilled Practice Manager at Now Hear This®, where she has been an integral part of the audiology team since the business opened in January 2012. Alongside her role as a Licensed Audiology Assistant, Dawn brings over 35 years of experience in customer service, patient care advocacy, and business development. Her wealth of knowledge, technical expertise, and compassionate care significantly contribute to the clinic’s daily operations, positively impacting the lives of those with hearing challenges.

Originally from Michigan, Dawn’s educational journey encompasses a broad range of certifications, including legal, anatomical, radiographic, and audiology technician credentials. Her extensive experience in office administration and management, coupled with her passion for audiology, has made her a pivotal figure in the development, success, and growth of Now Hear This®. Under the mentorship of renowned audiologists and as one of the clinic’s first three employees, Dawn has played various key roles in shaping the clinic’s philosophy and approach to patient care.

At Now Hear This®, Dawn is pivotal in performing hearing aid clean and checks, repairs, and providing essential care and instruction for hearing aid devices. Her collaboration with audiologists ensures that every patient’s hearing health plan is meticulously followed, guaranteeing personalized and sensitive care.

Dawn is a staunch advocate for a patient-centered approach to audiology care, emphasizing clear communication and tailored support to help patients navigate their hearing health journey. Her commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest advancements in hearing technology ensures that patients benefit from the most effective and innovative solutions available.

Away from Now Hear This®, Dawn relishes spending time in the mountains with her friends and family, exploring the southern states’ scenic hiking trails. A DIY enthusiast, she enjoys tackling projects in her Morrisville home and expanding her tool collection. Dawn’s interests also include kayaking, gardening, visiting public gardens, attending concerts, antiquing, and home décor, reflecting her love for the outdoors and creative pursuits.

Dawn looks forward to contributing to the growth of several Now Hear This® clinics in the near future and continuing to improve the quality of life for those experiencing hearing loss or impairment.

Bob, who is the Owner as well, had a vision for improving hearing aid performance and healthcare in America.  He got that vision while consulting with a small German company (Acousticon Ag) that manufactured a new device that, in Germany, helps audiologists make patients so happy with their hearing aids that they truly enjoy them.  That “joy” was in stark contrast to America where most hearing aided patients are frustrated with them and think they don’t work as well as they should.  Then, when he read research papers that said people with hearing loss are at MUCH greater risk of dementia (including Alzheimer’s), clinical depression, and falls with broken bones, he decided to do something about it.  He started up Now Hear This® as the only place in America using the German medical device.

Prior to Now Hear This® Dr. Keefer worked with a North Carolina-based consulting company called TCG MedTech, which specialized in developing US operations for European medical companies.  Originally, he received his PhD from Nebraska Medical School and in the interim has been a manager and chief executive of companies like Quest Diagnostics (formerly Smith Kline Clinical Laboratories), Analytical Technologies Inc, and Vista Information Solutions.

He is an avid fly-fisherman, singer, and college football fan.  Among other civic and non-profit involvements, he has served a four year term on the Board of the National Institutes of Health (NIH/NIEHS), a two year position with The Hamner Institute, and  a four year term as President of the Board of I Love A Clean San Diego County.

Karina, our newest addition to the team, serves as our Full-Time Patient Coordinator. Originally from Queens, NY, she made Raleigh her home in 1988. With a rich family life, Karina is a proud mother of three daughters and a grandmother to two grandsons and a granddaughter.

Bringing over 30 years of expertise in office administration, customer service, and health insurance, Karina is a valuable asset to our team. Beyond her professional endeavors, she finds joy in dancing and immersing herself in music whenever she can.

During her downtime, you’ll often find her enjoying a refreshing swim or indulging in the tranquility of nature. However, above all else, Karina cherishes moments spent with her family.
