Bluetooth & Hearing Aids: What You Need to Know

At Now Hear This®, one of the most common topics patients ask about is Bluetooth connectivity in hearing aids. Modern Bluetooth technology allows hearing aids to stream phone calls, music, and TV audio directly from compatible smartphones, tablets, and other devices. Different manufacturers offer different types of connectivity—some, like Phonak, pair directly with most smartphones, while others, such as Oticon, ReSound, and Widex, offer Made for iPhone or Made for Android systems. Features can also vary, including hands-free calling, health tracking, and custom controls.

A new development called Auracast™ is beginning to roll out across brands. This technology will allow hearing aid users to connect to shared audio in public places such as airports, gyms, and theaters, offering clearer sound even in noisy environments.

When choosing hearing aids, factors such as your phone type, streaming needs, daily listening environments, and battery requirements all play an important role. Our team walks patients through these considerations to help determine the right fit.

If you have questions about Bluetooth hearing aids or Auracast™ compatibility, contact us at (919) 256-2898 or visit nowhearthisclinic.com.
