Hey there, I’m Dr. Shopovick and I’m the audiologist at Now Hear This® Hearing Aids & Audiology. I wanted to quickly hop on in here and share with you our theme for this summer, which is keeping the ears safe and sound.
So, as we know, summer is the time to be outside, do fun outdoor activities like going to concerts or seeing a firework show. And this just serves as a reminder to make sure you are protecting your ears when you’re doing all of those fun activities because loud noise exposure does affect our inner ear hair cells. And once they become damaged from loud noise, that’s when you can get some hearing loss.
So we recently started working with a company called Sensophonics. Um they make custom noise protection and custom in-ear monitors for musicians. We just got a pair in today for a patient. They got this really pretty crystal blue color. Um but this is a custom-made noise plug essentially so that this person can put them in their ears when they’re going to their favorite artist to see a concert or if they’re going to a fireworks show this July.
So, just reminder, protect those ears. Um whether it’s a custom hearing protection device or a universal one, you know, the foam plugs that you can get at the drugstore. Um, anything will help protect your ears and help prevent future hearing loss. Well, thank you for tuning in. I hope you all have a wonderful summer and thank you!

This summer, our theme is “Keeping the Ears Safe and Sound.” Dr. Shopovick, our president and amazing audiologist, wants to remind everyone how important it is to use hearing protection during loud activities. Even short-term exposure to high noise levels—like at a fireworks show or live concert—can cause long-term damage to the sensitive hair cells in your inner ear. And once those cells are damaged, the result can be permanent hearing loss.
To help our patients enjoy the season safely, we’ve partnered with Sensophonics, a trusted company that creates custom earplugs and in-ear monitors for music lovers, musicians, and anyone who spends time in loud environments. These plugs are not only effective—they’re stylish too! One of our patients recently picked up a beautiful pair in crystal blue.
