When Dr. Emily Galasso first arrived at Ithaca College, she thought her path was clear: she was going to become a speech-language pathologist. That plan lasted exactly one audiology class.
Something about the blend of technology and medicine clicked for her in a way speech pathology never quite had. She realized she wanted to work at the intersection of both—using advanced tools to restore one of the most human experiences we have: connection through hearing. That single course redirected her entire career, and she has never looked back.
Emily earned her Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Ithaca College, then went on to complete her Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) at the University at Buffalo. For her fourth-year externship, she moved just north of Boston to Atlantic Hearing Care, a private practice on Massachusetts’ North Shore. There she gained extensive hands-on experience with adult diagnostic evaluations, hearing aid fittings and programming, cochlear implant evaluations, and tinnitus management.
Today, those same areas remain her clinical focus. She is especially passionate about creating personalized treatment plans grounded in evidence-based best practices—plans that address not just a hearing loss, but the real-life communication needs of each patient.
Outside the clinic, Emily is adjusting to life in North Carolina after growing up and studying entirely in the Northeast. She is originally from upstate New York (about 45 minutes outside Albany) and decided it was time for a change of scenery and warmer weather. When she’s not seeing patients, you’ll find her spending time with her fiancé and their two cats, exploring new restaurants, or staying active through biking and running.
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Galasso to the Now Hear This® team. She is already looking forward to meeting our patients and helping them hear more of the moments that matter.

“Hi everyone! I’m Dr. Galasso, Audiologist at Now Hear This®.
I’m originally from upstate New York, about 45 minutes outside of Albany. I completed my undergraduate studies at Ithaca College, where I studied Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. I actually started college thinking I wanted to become a speech-language pathologist, but after taking my first audiology course, I realized it aligned much more closely with my interests. I love the blend of technology and medicine that audiology offers, and I believe hearing is such an important part of our relationships and communication. It’s incredibly meaningful to have a positive impact on that aspect of people’s lives.
After undergrad, I earned my Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) from the University at Buffalo. I lived in Buffalo for three years while completing my coursework and clinical training. For my fourth year, I moved just north of Boston to complete my externship at a private practice.
During my externship, I worked extensively with adult patients, performing hearing evaluations, diagnostic testing, hearing aid fittings and programming, cochlear implant evaluations, and tinnitus management.
After earning my doctorate, I decided to relocate to North Carolina. Having lived in the Northeast my entire life, I was ready for a change of scenery and warmer weather.
I’m so excited to be part of the team at Now Hear This® and I’m really looking forward to meeting all of our patients!”
